Animatronics refers to the use of robotic devices to emulate a human or an animal, or bring lifelike characteristics to an otherwise inanimate object.

Nowadays lots of animatronics can be seen all over the world, such as Jurassic park, amusement park, resort, shopping mall etc. But do you know the developing history of animatronics?

The term Audio-Animatronics was coined by Walt Disney in 1961 when he started developing animatronics for entertainment and film. Audio-Animatronics does not differentiate between animatronics and androids. And his WED Enterprises team begins developing modern animatronics technology.

In the film Mary Poppins, animatronics birds are the first animatronics to be featured in a motion picture.

The first animatronics figure of a person is created by Disney and is Abraham Lincoln, featured at the Illinois State Pavilion of the 1964 New York World's Fair. Ben Franklin is the first animatronics figure to walk up a set of stairs created in 1982.

In 1993, The largest animatronics figure ever built is the T. rex for the movie, Jurassic Park. Nowadays more and more animatronics dinosaurs are made for theme parks, films and amusement parks...
